Lorri has been a leader in the LGBTQ movement for well over three decades. Early on, she was the lead plaintiff in a successful landmark discrimination lawsuit against Georgetown University. In 1989 Lorri was appointed Deputy Regional Director of FEMA, making her the highest-ranking openly gay or lesbian person working in the federal government. Lorri also served as the Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. But Lorri is perhaps best known for serving as the Executive Director and then as the CEO of the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. During her tenure the Center expanded dramatically, increased services and outreach to the LGBTQ community, and raised the highest annual budget of any LGBTQ organization in the world. Lorri’s continuing leadership of the Center keeps it a vital resource for the needs and aspirations of LGBTQ people not only in Los Angeles but around the globe. |
